Six years ago, the economic data for Greenwood County covered the top
of a boardroom table, a puzzle for community leaders intent on
analyzing the past and instigating a better future for the citizens.
There is no doubt that the previous ten years' worth of data revealed
some hard truths about the effect of technology, free trade and
complacency on the prosperity that Greenwoodians had been enjoying.
Collecting this data provided a benchmark from which to launch the
Partnership Alliance and its vision for successful growth; uniting the
community once more in its goals and creating new and strong strategies
for their attainment brought together a host of committed townspeople,
county residents, company leaders who now realized the impact and
influence of their industry's presence, and small businesspeople who,
simply stated, “know that Greenwood County has tremendous potential as
one of the finest places in America to build a future.”
