Lander University is a four-year, state-supported, co-educational university with an enrollment of approximately 3,000. Lander is accredited by the Commission on Colleges and Schools to award bachelor's- and master's-level degrees. More than 60 programs of study are offered which include majors, minors, concentrations and emphases. A graduate program is available in elementary education and students may seek an MBA on the Lander campus through Clemson University. Lander also provides a master’s degree in Engineering via Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.
Lander is a leader in environmental science and genetics education, becoming the first university to offer a genetics emphasis for biology majors. As the Partnership Alliance seeks to attract and grow biotechnology opportunities in Greenwood County, Lander is a critical component in Greenwood’s overall economic plan as a key source of the intellectual capital and capable workforce that drives and supports new opportunities. Plus, Lander’s School of Business Administration is critical to developing the entrepreneurial spirit and capabilities from which such opportunities grow.
The internationally recognized Greenwood Genetic Center liaison has proved a boon for Lander biology and chemistry students, who fill internships at the center. The center draws on Lander graduates for its workforce.
